Dr Ruth Allen elected as new Chair of Network
Following the Social Care Strategic Network 2010 AGM, I am pleased to announce the election of our new Chair, Dr Ruth Allen, Director of Social Work for South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. Ruth is a longstanding member of the Network (and its action learning set precursor) and a previous committee member.
Following her election Ruth said: “As Chair, I am very much looking forward to working with all members, associates and friends in 2011 to ensure the SCSN grows and develops its voice in the social care and mental health sectors nationally. Early in the New Year, we will circulate an annual programme of activities and events with more information about the peer networking opportunities of SCSN and how you can get more involved. In these challenging times, peer support will be more vital then ever. Most importantly, SCSN needs the ideas of its members – so if you have any thoughts about how to develop the network, please get in touch with me or email the network administrator Sophie at scsnmh@aol.com
Our special thanks are due to our outgoing Chair, Hari Sewell, who oversaw the constitution and establishment of the network during 2009 and 2010 and made great strides in ensuring other agencies and professional bodies were aware of the SCSN and its concerns. His able and genial hosting of SCSN’s two successful conferences may be particularly missed! Hari will remain an active member of the Network and an ongoing source of support and sound opinion to members.
